open Sat and Sun 12–6pm

Prophet Royal Robertson’s (Born 1936 Louisiana, Texas -1997) energetic style and misogynistic images have attracted widespread attention in America though he is little known in the UK. He developed three dominant themes in his work: calendar drawings, fantasy paintings of futuristic cities and drawings chronicling his unhappy marriage to his wife Adel. She is portrayed as a ‘bad, adulterous viper’.

For the past year and half Sam Basu, Tom Humphreys and Paul Johnson have acquired small personal collections of his works. These collections combined will form Prophet Royal Robertson’s first UK retrospective exhibition opening at Flaca on 22nd January 2005.

Flaca would also like to thank Michael Beutler, Chris Humphreys and David Thorpe for additional Royal Robertson works loaned for the exhibition from their collections.

Paul Johnson conceived of this exhibition in 2004.
